About Us
Our History
Back in January 2000 Hayle was entered into the South West in Bloom awards for the very first time, by the then Parks Manager Michael Foy. Hayle was entered solely on the floral displays that the town gardeners had produced. In 2001 Hayle gained a Highly Commended Award for the gardener’s efforts.
The following year saw the criteria change, and so in January 2002, the new Parks Manager Brian Hosken, along with the town gardeners Mike Kemp, Matthew Lewis, and the Town Clerk Vivien Parsons, put out a call for help. The general public were asked to create a working party, with the aim of entering the ‘In Bloom’ competitions and to enhance and beautify our town. And so Hayle in Bloom was born!
Please take a look at the Achievements page for all our past and present awards and achievements following the beginning of Hayle In Bloom.

Have you heard of IYN ?
IYN stands for “In Your Neighbourhood.”
It is an integral part of the broader RHS Britain in Bloom initiative, but it operates on a non-competitive basis. The RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) program is a distinctive scheme designed for volunteer-led community gardening projects and groups that aim to enhance their local environment through community gardening efforts.
Overall, IYN serves as a platform for communities to come together, cultivate green spaces, and improve their surroundings without the pressure of competition.
